The Slovenian Advertisers’ Association (SOZ) organised the 25th edition of their flagship event Golden Drum International Festival of Creativity that aims to gather and inspire both established and young European creatives.

The three-day festival in the seaside town of Portorož welcomed over 40 international speakers, including Sir John Hegarty on creating lasting client-agency relationships and the future of advertising, WFA CEO Stephan Loerke on progressive gender portrayals in advertising and “Mr Goodvertising” Thomas Kolster on brand transformation and embracing sustainability.

On the last day, SOZ also held the Golden Drum awards ceremony. The award competition is open to advertisers, agencies, design or production houses, media companies and others involved in the creation or production of marketing communications.

A total of 12 Grand Prix, 26 Golden Drums and 50 Silver Drums were given out. Fashion company Diesel was awarded the Brand Grand Prix while McCann Worldgroup received the Golden Net award for the most successful agency network of the year. McCann Bucharest was named best agency of the year.

The inaugural ‘Best of Good’ award that recognises great campaigns around societal issues went to the Unbreakable Rainbow campaign by Ben & Jerry’s (Unilever) and independent agency 180heartbeats + JvM from Warsaw.
