Sustainable Marketing in a post EmpCo world

The Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (ECGT) Directive now applies across the EU and significantly changes how brands communicate on sustainability.

Generic environmental claims are prohibited, most on-pack sustainability claims must be supported by a recognised label or certification, and the standard of substantiation has risen.

WFA is hosting a 90-minute, member only roundtable to explore the implications of ECGT for brand communications and how marketing teams can maintain internal momentum despite the added complexity.
The Chatham house roundtable will draw on the legal requirements, regulator guidance and publicly available examples, and will give attendees the opportunity to share best practices on how to approach these challenges.  Attendees will:
  • Hear the latest from WFA on the Empowering Consumer for the Green Transition regulation and how WFA is supporting its members in navigating the regulation
  • Hear from the Advertising Standards Authority (UK) on where regulators are focusing their attention and what this means for brands communicating sustainability commitments and environmental benefits
  • Participate in a Chatham House, peer-to-peer roundtable discussion of brand leaders based on the speaker presentation, covering how brands can stay compliant, keep marketing teams engaged, and use the rules to rebuild consumer trust.
