In February, the Belgian data protection authority ruled that IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF), the most common mechanism through which European websites and apps collect users’ permission to process their personal data for online advertising purposes, violates the EU’s GDPR. The decision, which gives IAB Europe 2 months to develop an action plan to make the TCF GDPR-compliant, calls into question data processing in the entire behavioural advertising ecosystem.
In this webinar, Ravi Naik, Legal Director, AWO and a leading solicitor in the field of data protection, data rights and protecting human rights in the digital age, will provide an in-depth overview of the Belgian DPA decision and expected next steps. He’ll also provide insights into practical measures advertisers should be taking in response, and share his perspective as to what this decision means more broadly the digital advertising industry.
