About the Role

The role will be responsible for driving the analysis and providing assessment of relevant

public policy issues and their implications to SHEIN’s business interests in APAC. He/she will report into SHEIN’s Global Head of Public Affairs, and will work with other relevant SHEIN teams to manage and develop the company’s public policy positions for APAC. In addition, the successful candidate will work with the Global Head to develop and drive stakeholder engagement strategies, as well as take the lead in executing and managing policy engagements for SHEIN in APAC. He/she is responsible for fostering strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and translating policy engagements into tangible commercial outcomes to advance SHEIN’s market access and expansion efforts in APAC. He/she will also plan, organise and manage SHEIN’s various stakeholder engagement platforms in APAC, in support of the objective to expand and enhance our collaborations with key stakeholders from various backgrounds such as political/regulatory stakeholders, civil society, industry associations and other public arenas. In this role, the candidate must be able to work effectively with various teams globally, such as the government and public relations teams across SHEIN’s key global markets, and SHEIN’s Sustainability, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Supply Chain teams to represent and advocate the company’s positions on a multitude of policy issues. The successful candidate should possess a deep interest and ability to understand how politics, business, finance, sustainability, technology and innovation, as well as international relations are interconnected. These are pertinent issues that have an impact on our projects and initiatives.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Track, monitor and assess strategic/policy issues and their implications to SHEIN’s commercial interests in APAC.
  • Develop and provide recommendations to SHEIN’s senior management and relevant business units concerning political, policy, and regulatory issues.
  • Identify, engage and build relations with key stakeholders (including political office holders, government officials, regulators, non-governmental organizations, media, and industry associations) to secure SHEIN’s market access and expansion efforts in APAC.
  • Formulate and execute advocacy plans to translate policy engagements into tangible commercial outcomes to secure SHEIN’s market access and expansion efforts.
  • Develop and drive strategic communications plans and partnerships in support of company’s overall policy positioning and profiling.
  • Organise and manage meetings with external parties, including the preparation of briefing notes/presentations for senior management’s reference.
  • Lead in the planning, organisation and management of networking platforms.
  • Lead a team across APAC and foster a proactive & commercially-minded team culture.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Global Studies, Law, Economics, Communications, Media, Journalism, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of working experience in corporate/public affairs, and/or government relations/public policy, and/or corporate communications/public relations.
  • Experience in policy research, development, and analysis, and/or track record in developing and implementing external communication strategies/campaigns
  • Strong policy/regulatory network in APAC.
  • Track record of effectively solving complex issues and delivering strong results while maintaining the highest standards.
  • Keen interest to translate policy/regulatory engagements into tangible commercial outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, presentation (written and oral) and project management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in English & Chinese.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills .
  • Ability to multi-task and have exceptional attention to detail while operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
