About ICAS-WFA Webinar: Food marketing and Children. What next for advertising self-regulation? Part 2

ICAS-WFA Webinar: Food marketing and Children. What next for advertising self-regulation? Part 2 - About

In its first edition of the webinar ‘Food Marketing & Children. What next for advertising self-regulation?’ that took place on 28 November 2022, members of WFA and ICAS – The International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation – looked at the increasing regulatory pressures on food marketing around the world. Participants started a discussion on how self-regulatory approaches can be made more effective and work better for consumers, businesses, and regulators. The focus of the first webinar was the food marketing codes in Australia and in the Netherlands, where local marketing pledges have been embedded into the wider self-regulatory codes administered independently by ad standards bodies, and thus made mandatory across industry.

In the second edition of the webinar, WFA and ICAS plan to continue and deepen the discussion, also involving the wider advertising industry and food industry representatives. With the support of representatives of the ad standards bodies in Canada and in the UK, we will explore the key factors for success and discuss what’s next for advertising self-regulation in this area.
