The European Union is currently considering two legislative proposals; the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, both of which will have profound impacts on the European digital advertising market and which represent numerous opportunities and challenges for advertisers.

The legislative proposals, which are expected to come into force in 2023 at the earliest, introduce new rules for online platforms to tackle illegal content and measures to promote online advertising transparency with the aims of creating safer, fairer and more innovative EU digital markets. And while some of the proposals could  strengthen advertisers’ brand safety efforts and drive transparency in the way online platforms like Google and Facebook provide advertising services, they may also result in more stringent obligations on online advertising.

Over the past few months, WFA’s digital policy team has been working with corporate members and national associations to develop positions on the proposals and promote advertiser interests with EU policymakers. These are available to download here and here.

This webinar will be an opportunity to explore the legislative proposals in more depth, outline the challenges and opportunities they represent for advertisers and provide insights into how both advertisers and advertiser associations should be engaging on this topic at national and EU level.
