A recent study on the value of advertising in Spain shows the sector contributes with 1.2% to the country's GDP and with 112,427 jobs, making it the second most important service sub-sector in Spain (20.35%) after technical engineering (26.73%).

The results also showed there are over 32,000 companies active in advertising, a sector that has experienced an 8.25% growth in 2014 compared to 2013, with a turnover of EUR 14.6 million. Advertisers in Spain are accountable directly or indirectly for around 68,000 jobs, with an average salary of EUR 32,000/year, the research also found. On the academic side, in 2014 there were more than 23,000 marketing and advertising students enrolled.

The results were presented recently at the 50th General Assembly of the Association of Spanish Advertisers (AEA) in Madrid on April 16th, which was attended by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism of Spain, José Manuel Soria. Also on this occasion, the AEA elected a new Board and Executive Council, re-elected Jaime Lobera as President and launched a book and a video on the history of advertising in Spain.
