The Malaysia Effie Awards 2015 will see the introduction of the Global Effie Effectiveness Index, preliminary online judging and the introduction of the Brand of the Year award in a move to further boost the effectiveness of the awards, which is now in its eighth year.
Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA) president Margaret Au-Yong says the introduction of the index is one of the initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the awards in line with global practice. "This is one of the initiatives which MAA, as one of the organisers, hopes to contribute positively in its quest to take the Effie Awards to a higher level."
She says MAA is also awaiting approval from Effie New York for the inclusion of the e-commerce category, which should draw participation from SMEs and Internet businesses.
In terms of entries this year, Margaret Au-Yong says it is targeting 120 compared with 100 last year, a sign that an increasing number are vying for the effectiveness awards.
The Effie Awards were launched in 1968 in the United States and there are now more than 40 national-level Effie programmes worldwide. The 8th Malaysia Effie Awards is jointly organised by the MAA, the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) and the Media Specialists Association.
The MAA will also co-host WFA's Global Marketer Conference 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, from 14th to 18th March 2016.
