The United Nations Global Compact and the International Chamber of Commerce recently published "Scaling Up Sustainability Collaboration", a joint publication that showcases how business associations, including the WFA, and sector initiatives can and are advancing sustainable development, what their key sustainability priorities are, and how their efforts align with the UN development agenda.

The featured case examples demonstrate how business associations can help their members advance sustainable development through information and knowledge diffusion; capacity building and education; technical standards and specifications; policy advocacy and public affairs; and fostering and brokering partnerships.

WFA's contribution (pages 68-69 of the publication) builds on the idea that, while most businesses consider sustainability in relation to the environment, a lot of consumers and marketers take a different view, and that is adding genuine value to people's lives %u2013 and, for companies, this comes from having meaning, purpose and delivering value as a brand and as a business.

"Scaling Up Sustainability Collaboration" was developed in the context of the implementation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda in September 2015 by the UN Member States, which adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The publication was launched both at the SDG Forum on 25 September and the 2015 UN Private Sector Forum on 26 September %u2013 two key business events taking place around the SDG summit.
