The Spanish Association of Advertisers (AEA), which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, organised the 17th edition of its annual Advertising Effectiveness Awards last 30 October in Madrid.

A total of 37 trophies were presented to Spanish advertisers and agencies that proved to be the best in meeting brand objectives through creative and effective advertising strategies in a highly competitive environment. The criteria used for the selection of winners were: strategy, idea and execution, and results.

IKEA bagged the Effectiveness Grand Prix 2015 with its Christmas ad campaign "La otra carta" (The other letter), developed in cooperation with MRM//McCann. The campaign encouraged consumers to reflect on their vision of Christmas. IKEA also won the Gold for Effectiveness in Commercial Communication and a special recognition for Research.

Stephan Loerke, Managing Director of WFA, presented a special award for the Spanish ad campaign that best demonstrated the "use of marketing in raising social awareness", which was given to the Spanish Cancer Association and My Dear Watson for "Cáncer Colorrectal". When asked about how the WFA sees the role social responsibility plays in business, Stephan Loerke said: "delivering a product is not enough; more and more consumers expect brands to have purpose and shared values."
