The Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA) acknowledged the best of Malaysian marketing at the 8th edition of the Malaysia Effie Awards last month.

The gala paid tribute to effectiveness in marketing communications, spotlighting marketing ideas that work and encouraging thoughtful dialogue on the drivers of marketing effectiveness.

This year's edition of the Effie Awards welcomed digital submissions for the first time, increasing the number of entries by 60% compared to the year before. The organisers also introduced seven new award categories, along with four redefined categories that champion effective marketing.

Two other firsts were the awards for Brand of the Year (winner: Maxis) and Agency of the Year (Winner: TBWA/Kuala Lumpur).

"We are confident these changes will encourage more effective marketing campaigns in the future and propel local brands to the forefront of the international arena, generating awareness for great ideas that are realised", said MAA President Margaret Au-Yong.
