Sales staff become personal shoppers to meet online demand

In response to the rapid growth in online sales, New Zealand supermarket chain Countdown has opened the country’s first dedicated online store. Countdown recorded a 300% rise in traffic to its website once lockdown was imposed and is meeting demand by closing physical stores and transforming its in-store staff into personal shoppers. With these measures, Countdown can fulfil up to 7500 orders a week.
