The Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) has recently launched Trends, Ideas and Libations (TIL), a monthly gathering for MSK members and Kenya’s marketing community to discuss the latest marketing innovations, technologies, trends, insights and products and services.

The event follows PechaKucha, a simple presentation format where 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each. The idea behind the unique format is to uncover the unexpected talent, insights and stories of presenters. This is then followed by a networking cocktail.



Two editions of TIL have been organised so far, in June and July. In the July edition, presentations included:

  • The modern African woman: Every marketer’s checklist by Yvette Otieno of local media monitoring company Reelforge;

  • Video banking by Victor Odemba of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya;

  • Trends: Cannes Lions Awards 2017 by Castro Ambiyo, business development expert; and

  • Use of digital marketing by local tech firm Africa 118.
