The Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) elected a new board and named Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at First Bank of Nigeria, as the association’s first female president at its annual meeting in September. She takes over from David Okeme, CMO at Remita and former Marketing Director at Unilever Nigeria Plc.

Folake has an extensive background in marketing communications. She started her marketing career at British Airways where she was responsible for brand policies and communications for Europe and Africa. She then held several roles such as Business Analyst, Strategy & Business Planning Manager, New Business Development Manager and Head of Marketing and Communications Manager for Africa. Prior to joining the First Bank of Nigeria, she was Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Dangote Industries Limited.

ADVAN’s new board consists of:

  • Folake Ani-Mumuney, First Bank of Nigeria (President)

  • Wasiu Abiola, Nigerian Breweries (1st Vice president)

  • Nkiru Olumide Ojo, Stanbic IBTC (2nd Vice president)

  • Nnena Osi Anugwa (Treasurer)

  • Onome Asgbara, Dufil Prima (Secretary)

  • Abiona Babarinde, Coscharis Group

  • Gerald Osugo, 9Mobile

  • Uche Onwudiwe, Guinness

Folake’s election coincided with ADVAN Marketers Day, the association’s annual C-level event that brings together Nigeria’s industry leaders and seeks to highlight marketing trends, technologies and innovations.
