The China Association of National Advertisers (CANA) welcomed a new board and re-elected Dr. Yang Hanping as president of the association.

Dr. Yang was vice-principal of the China University of Labour Relations, and has served as Minister of the Social Liaison department and Democratic Management department of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions for many years. He has also published several academic papers including one on the theory and practice of government procurement. He was appointed to WFA’s Executive Committee during Global Marketer Week 2018 in Tokyo in May.

Over 144 representatives from companies, media owners, universities and research institutes from all over China attended CANA’s General Assembly. The newly-elected board consists of 50 individuals, including senior representatives from China Railway, Doublestar Group, China Telecom and other state-owned enterprises, Huiyuan Group and other privately-owned companies, as well as experts and professors from Peking University and Tsinghua University.

During his keynote speech, Dr. Yang outlined his vision for the association in the coming years. His main objectives are to make CANA the platform for brand building and value creation within China’s advertising industry, strengthen the association’s position as the bridge between government and businesses, and become an avenue for international cooperation and exchange.

Dr. Yang also shared CANA’s priorities and activities for 2018 and beyond. The association plans on establishing three new working groups on brand building and evaluation, advertising strategy and marketing and intellectual property and legal consulting. CANA also plans on creating a new platform to provide advice and services to their members, especially in terms of helping Chinese companies enter the international market.
