The Association of Portuguese Advertisers (APAN) has elected Tiago Simões, Marketing Director of retail chain Continente owned by Portuguese food retailer Sonae MC, as President during the association’s virtual General Assembly. He takes over from António Casanova, CEO of Unilever FIMA, who served as APAN president for two terms.
Tiago has a longstanding marketing background, having previously held senior marketing roles at Banco Santander, Novis, Sonaecom and Optimus.
New members of the APAN board for 2020-2023 were recently elected in a virtual General Assembly. Nuno Pinto Magalhães (Central de Cervejas) was appointed as vice-president, Mónica Serrano (L'Oréal) as secretary and Carla Santos (Santander) as treasurer. Other members of the board include Rui Miguel Nabeiro (NovaDelta), Teresa Burnay (Unilever FIMA), Helena Gouveia (Ikea), Jorge Aguiar (Mercedes-Benz) and Joana Garoupa (Galp Energia).
Under APAN’s new leadership, the association will focus on three key areas: media and measurement, business development, and regulation and ethics.
