Pakistan holds first virtual Effie Awards

On July 24, the Pakistan Advertisers Society (PAS) organised the first ever virtual awards gala night within the global Effie programme.

PAS Executive Director Qamar Abbas said: “The virtual Effie Awards Pakistan 2020 gala night is a first-of-its-kind virtual show not just in the industry but across the country and we hope to set a new standard for what award shows can achieve. Being the first Effie program globally to host the awards virtually, we are pushing the envelope with this event and plan to leave no stone unturned in creating a unique and fulfilling experience for both our participants and our audience.”

Thousands of people watched the virtual Effie Awards Pakistan 2020, produced in collaboration with local TV network SAMAA TV and was livestreamed on Facebook and Youtube. Event sponsors included Jubilee Life, Shan Foods (main sponsor), Coca-Cola (beverage partner) and Lipton (lounge partner), among others. Both local and international marketing thought leaders spoke and presented awards during the event including Rory Sutherland, Cindy Gallop, Bob Hoffman, Stephan Loerke and Faris Yakob.

Effie Awards Pakistan celebrates marketing effectiveness and is one of the most prestigious marketing awards in Pakistan. PAS received hundreds of campaign applications and 42 awards in 25 categories were given out during the virtual gala night. Submitted campaigns were evaluated by a jury composed of renowned professionals and experts in the field of marketing, advertising, academia, creative, media and research in the country.

BBDO Pakistan took home the Effie Grand Prix for the “Truck Art Childfinder” campaign they developed for Roshni Helpline. Telenor Pakistan was named Marketer of the Year while Ogilvy Pakistan bagged Agency of the Year.
