The Association of Advertisers in Ireland (AAI) has elected Derek Liddy, Head of Digital Marketing at Aer Lingus, as president of the association.

Liddy spearheads Aer Lingus’ global online acquisition strategy and sales and has a longstanding marketing background and expertise in developing digital strategies. Prior to joining Aer Lingus in 2014, he was Head of Digital Strategy for Dublin-based digital transformation agency Continuum and Head of Online for Anglo Irish Bank. Liddy also serves on the board of the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI).

AAI CEO Barry Dooley said: “Like so many other industries, advertisers have had to adapt in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, and a number of challenges remain ahead. We’re looking forward to having Derek help spearhead our efforts to support advertisers and ensure continued high standards in the industry.”

Liddy is joined by Constance Balsamo, Head of Alcohol Policy and Public Affairs for Ireland at Diageo, who has been appointed as the new vice-president of AAI. Other members of AAI’s new board include: Catherine Bent (LR Suntory) who has been appointed Honorary Secretary, Paul Carton (Vodafone), Louise Bannon (DAA), Eoin Doyle (Glanbia), Leonie Doyle (Britvic), Ana Kljaic (Coca-Cola), Claire McCarrick (Irish Distillers), Dervilla McGarry (Lloyds Pharmacy), Jennifer Power (McDonald’s), Nuala Kroondijk (AIB), Camille O’Flanagan (Barry’s Tea), Aidan Power (KBC Bank), Ruairi Twomey (Tesco Ireland) and Suzanne Weldon (BWG Foods).
