In November 2021, the European Commission published a legislative proposal which would introduce strict transparency requirements for political advertising and limit microtargeting of political ads based on sensitive personal data. These new rules could also apply to some commercial ads which convey messages on societal or controversial issues (so-called ‘issues ads’).
The purpose of the Transparency in Political Advertising Task Force is to discuss latest developments, coordinate ongoing advocacy efforts and agree on next steps.
This meeting is open to WFA members only.
