Overview of latest developments in relation to marketing and children

- Global and national pressures on food marketing: WFA covered the latest from the WHO and emerging regulatory threats in Germany, Norway, Canada, South Africa, Thailand and Malaysia.
- ICC Code revision: WFA updated on efforts to revise the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Marketing and Communications Code — a set of globally applied industry standards — including plans to reflect recent societal expectations on marketing to children.
- Children’s online privacy and safety: As federal initiatives around children’s online privacy and safety are reintroduced to the US Senate and Australia looks to turn-off the collecting of U18s data by default, WFA examined the possible implications for advertisers.
- Platform updates: WFA provided the latest platform updates, including TikTok’s UK ICO fine for failing to keep U13s off the platform, and the US FTC’s proposed total ban on Meta monetising U18s data.
Roblox to present on their new advertising policy
Antonio Sweet, Sr. Manager, Monetisation Product Policy at Roblox presented on his work in managing the development of the popular online gaming platform’s new advertising policy, which introduces a ban on marketing to U13s, and includes new disclosure requirements, as well as category and content rules. Roblox also presented on the rollout of their own ad server offering for brands. A Q&A was held following the presentation.
