On 3rd November, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam issued the country’s first self-regulatory Code of Conduct for advertising.

This follows the fourth Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) workshop on Advertising Standards held in Ho Chi Minh City in August. The event brought together industry and regulators from the 21 Pacific Rim economies to share best practices in advertising self-regulation.

The voluntary Code is intended to provide a level-playing field for companies advertising in Vietnam. WFA and its partners will seek to build on this generic code by building sector-specific codes including for the food and non-alcoholic beverage industry.

A copy of the Code in English is available here.
