The Advertising Business Group (ABG) held the inaugural ABG annual event to update members about the association’s progress after their relaunch in December 2016.

Sanjiv Kakkar, ABG Chair and Executive Vice President MENA, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus at Unilever, outlined the association’s ongoing focus on member recruitment, their strengthened relationship with the International Council of Self-Regulation (ICAS) and the WFA, as well as the finalisation of ABG’s Advertising Code of Ethics.

Sanjiv also shared ABG’s priorities for 2018 which include promoting their newly defined Code of Ethics through several initiatives and extending the Code to other relevant areas, such as digital marketing, marketing to children and gender stereotypes in advertising.

ABG members also heard from José Domingo Gómez Castallo, ICAS President and Director General of Spanish self-regulatory body Autocontrol, who discussed the value of advertising self-regulation and an overview of current global challenges.

Will Gilroy, Director of Public Affairs and Communications at WFA, presented the Project Reconnect report on the 3Ps of great marketing and how marketers can better align with people’s changing expectations to deliver meaningful, valued brand experiences.
