On September 21, the Danish Association of Advertisers and Marketers (DAOM), Marketing Finland and the Association of Swedish Advertisers (Sveriges Annonsörer) organised an online event to jointly launch GARM Nordic – a new cross-industry alliance to improve digital safety and address harmful content in the Nordic region.

The new initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of the WFA-led Global Alliance for Responsible Media. GARM Nordic aims to adapt and implement GARM’s global framework and instil knowledge and awareness among advertisers and other industry stakeholders in the region.

The regional alliance is made up of national advertisers, media companies and other industry associations in Denmark, Finland and Sweden, as well as representatives from the major tech platforms including Facebook, Google and TikTok.

Next steps include setting up working groups and steering teams that will work on developing common brand safety standards and localising the GARM framework. GARM Nordic will also closely monitor regulatory developments within the region and the European Union, including the EU Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, which cover areas that can impact the work of the cross-industry initiative.

For more information on GARM Nordic and how advertisers in the region can get involved, contact Karin Grohman (Sveriges Annonsörer, Sweden), Riikka-Maria Lemminki (Marketing Finland) or Holger Wilcks (DAOM, Denmark).

For more information on how other national advertiser associations in the WFA network can get involved in GARM, contact the GARM secretariat.
