The Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA) has elected a new board for 2022-2024 and named Claudian Navin Stanislaus, Head of Communication & Consumer Marketing at BABA Products, as the association’s president. He takes over from Kadri Taib who led MAA for four years.
Claudian has worked for BABA Products for 20 years and was previously Head of Advertising & Promotions. He has served as MAA’s vice-president and sits on the board of Advertising Standards Malaysia (ASA).
Under its new leadership, the association will focus on strengthening relationships with other industry stakeholders and associations and continue MAA’s advocacy work and engagement with the various ministries and regulatory bodies. The association is also committed to media measurement transparency and accuracy, including the Malaysian ad industry’s efforts to roll out a single video audience measurement, and international best practices being adapted into local industry regulation.
Navin said: “The MAA has always played an advocacy role on behalf of advertisers in Malaysia, engaging the various ministries and regulatory bodies as well as fellow industry stakeholders to ensure that the channels of communication and cooperation are always active in the pursuit for a conducive environment for brands to thrive without compromising consumers’ rights. This is something we hope to build on in the coming term. We will be reaching out to other trade associations too and seek opportunities to work together on initiatives that can benefit the industry, especially the SME sector which is critical to the growth of the economy.”
Claudian will lead MAA along with Javed Jafri, Media & Digital Hub Lead for Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos at Unilever, who has been elected as the association’s vice-president. MAA’s new board consists of marketing leaders from Coca-Cola, Genting Malaysia Berhad, Grab, Heineken, Maxis, Mondelēz, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble and Tune Group.
