Around the world, news platforms and social media are filled with shocking images highlighting the impact that essential personal protective equipment (PPE) is having on frontline healthcare workers’ skin during the Coronavirus pandemic. Face masks, goggles and gloves worn for hours at a time, alongside frequent hand washing are causing skin irritation and soreness.
To help protect and heal the skin of those who need it most, Bayer has donated over 500,000 packs of leading skincare brand Bepanthen to over 180,000 healthcare workers across 28 markets.
The message was simple, “Thank you for looking after us. Please don’t forget to look after yourself”.
Frontline workers from across the globe showed their appreciation on social media with messages reaching over 300 million people. One intensive care nurse commented: “My skin wasn’t able to tolerate protective suits, gloves, alcohol, soap and water anymore. Applying Bepanthen has been my biggest support. Thank you.”
