On 28 July, the Advertisers Association of Turkey (RVD), along with several associations representing Turkish journalists and other media and communications professionals have signed a commitment to the 'Professional Codes for Communication and Media Relations Management' in Istanbul.

RVD, Informatics Reporters Association (BMD), Economics Journalists Association (EGD), Communication Consultancy Companies Association (IDA), Corporate Communicators Association (KID), Media and Communication Assembly of TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey), Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) and Public Communications Association of Turkey (TUHID) collaborated on creating the codes which bind advertisers, journalists, and media and communication professionals to carry out truthful and responsible news and information practices. The codes were originally packaged as a guide before becoming a cross-industry commitment.

Aside from abiding to the codes, the signing parties also agreed to collaborate further on implementation monitoring.

Ahmet Pura, RVD President, said: "Business life is highly competitive and gets fiercer and fiercer every day in all sectors. This is a threat for the long term. To take a turn for the better, various sectors should comply with responsible business models and ethical values. I always underline the fact that, if we clench our fists, we can't shake hands. Consensus is the principle to find truth, peace, transparency and compliance."

On 21 July, RVD also gathered various stakeholders from the advertising, agency and media sectors in Turkey to create a coalition for responsible and sustainable radio audience measurement aimed at revitalising the radio industry and increasing radio's share in media investments.
