On 26-27 September, WFA held its 16th annual LATAM regional meeting in Paraguay chaired by Javier Medrano, SVP of Marketing - Cookies & Pastries at Grupo Bimbo. It was hosted by the Paraguay Advertisers Chamber (CAP) who also celebrated their 20th anniversary during the week. The meeting brought together representatives of WFA’s national advertiser associations from Argentina (CAA), Chile (ANDA), Guatemala (AAG), Paraguay (CAP), Peru (ANDA), Spain (AEA) and Uruguay (CAU), as well as senior regional marketers.
The morning round table discussion on the first day revolved around public affairs issues related to responsible advertising including food advertising to children, alcohol marketing, and privacy and data management. The afternoon was dedicated to media and marketing issues such as global challenges in digital marketing, marketing capabilities and the agency of the future.
The second day was dedicated to the activities of WFA’s national advertiser associations in Latin America. The topics discussed were on the future of advertiser associations with a roundtable led by Rodolfo León (ANDA Peru), and media governance and management with presentations of initiatives from AEA Spain and ANDA Chile.
Industry leadership initiatives that participated in the last WFA President’s Awards were also discussed, as well as gender stereotypes in advertising where CAP Paraguay presented their initiative “CAP Entrepreneurs”, a programme focused on increasing women’s role on the local entrepreneurship scene.
The next WFA LATAM meeting will be hosted by ANDA Peru in Lima in the second half of 2018. For more information, please contact Natalia.
