On 18-19 September, WFA held its 17th Latin American regional meeting in Peru, chaired by Philip Perez, Regional Vice President of WFA for South America and President of the Argentine Advertisers Association (CAA).

Hosted by the Association of Peruvian Advertisers (ANDA Peru), the two-day event brought around the table advertiser association representatives from Argentina (CAA), Bolivia (ANDA), Colombia (ANDA), Guatemala (AAG), Paraguay (CAP), Peru (ANDA) and Spain (AEA), as well as senior regional and local marketers.

The first day provided participants with the opportunity to get up to speed and share views and ideas on some of the most pressing issues facing marketers today: the demands laid out by brand owners in the WFA Global Media Charter, the impact of Europe’s new data protection law, how brands can address the increasing discontent of consumers with regards to their ad experience online, working with influencers, the latest trends in agency remuneration, as well as the topic of promoting a progressive gender representation through marketing.

The second day provided the platform to discuss the latest developments in the areas of the responsible marketing of food and beverages to children, as well as for the responsible marketing of alcohol. Improving viewability, defining ad standards for working with influencers, improving standards for online advertising more broadly and strengthening self-regulation were some of the initiatives shared by national associations in a session dedicated to actions meant to advance the marketers’ agenda. Audience measurement was also on the agenda with external presentations given by some of the players active in this space.

The next WFA LATAM meeting will be hosted by Camara de Anunciantes de Argentina (CAA) in Buenos Aires on 7-9 October, 2019. For a copy of the presentations, please contact Natalia.
